 The Rogue Initiative for a Vital Economy (THRIVE) is a
501(c)3 community benefit organization. Our mission is to build a
thriving local economy of independent, locally owned businesses that are
socially, environmentally and financially sustainable.
We use the word vital in our name to emphasize our belief that economic
exchange needs to be both life-serving and profit-seeking.
We seek a locally-controlled economy that promotes the social and
environmental health of our region.
We are a member of the
Business Alliance
for Local Living Economies (BALLE)
a national alliance of local business networks in North America who are
building living economies in their regions. A Local Living Economy
ensures that economic power resides locally, sustaining healthy
community life and natural life, as well as long-term economic
viability.
We develop

to encourage a vital local economy.
 Our History
In 1996, a coalition of not-for-profit organizations
created the Southern Oregon Economic Development Coalition to promote
collaborative economic development efforts.
One of the projects of this organization was the creation of THRIVE.
